Shuffle Take Stop Skip - Static Ball Control Drills for U10-U11

This drill builds on:

When starting with the right foot:

(Switch left and right below when starting with the left foot)

  1. Stand behind the ball (the ball close and between both feet).
  2. Shuffle 3 times (uneven and starting with the right).
  3. Take the ball with the laces of the left foot.
  4. Close in on the ball.
  5. Stop the ball with the left foot by means of a step-on.
  6. Skip the ball with the right foot which counts as the first part of the shuffle.
  7. Shuffle 2 times.
  8. Take the ball with the laces of the right foot.
  9. Close in on the ball.
  10. Stop the ball with the right foot by means of a step-on.
  11. Skip the ball with the left foot which counts as the first part of the shuffle.
  12. Shuffle 2 times.
  13. Continue steps 3-12.

Things to watch out for:

  1. Don't stand rigid on the legs but flex the knees a bit.
  2. Maintain a straight line.
  3. Emphasize the last touch during the shuffle (tick tick TICK) to facilitate the take.
  4. Take the ball with the laces to be more precise.
  5. Shuffle in place starting with the skip.
  6. Start slow and increase the speed of execution step by step.
  7. The ball should always be on the move.
