Step-On Pull Turn - Static Ball Control Drills for U10-U11

Tutorial

When starting with the right foot:

(Switch left and right below when starting with the left foot)

  1. Stand behind the ball (the ball in front of the right foot).
  2. Take the ball with the laces of the right foot.
  3. Close in on the ball.
  4. Step on the ball with the sole of the right foot to stop it.
  5. Pull the ball backwards with the sole of the right foot.
  6. At the same time:
    1. Jump on the left foot (support foot) to reposition the right foot.
    2. Turn to the left.
  7. Take the ball with the laces of the left foot.
  8. Close in on the ball.
  9. Step on the ball with the sole of the left foot to stop it.
  10. Pull the ball backwards with the sole of the left foot.
  11. At the same time:
    1. Jump on the right foot (support foot) to reposition the left foot.
    2. Turn to the right.
  12. Continue steps 2-11.

Things to watch out for:

  1. Don't stand rigid on the legs but flex the knees a bit.
  2. Start slow and increase the speed gradually.
  3. Stay on the same straight line as best as possible.
  4. Position the feet correctly after the turn to be able to take the ball easily.
