Shuffle Behind Turn 180° Both Feet - Fast Footwork Drills for U10-U11

Shuffle Behind Turn 180° Both Feet - Fast Footwork Drills for U10-U11

Tutorial

This drill builds on the Shuffle Behind Turn 180° (Fast Footwork Drills for U8-U9). The player has to count differently on alternating turns (4-3-4-3-...) in order to use both feet.

When starting with the right foot:

(Switch left and right below when starting with the left foot)

  1. Shuffle 3 times. (starting with the left foot)
  2. On the fourth count, kick the ball with the inside of the right foot behind the left foot.
  3. Turn to the left.
  4. Cut the ball with the right foot which counts as the first count of the next shuffle.
  5. On the third count, kick the ball with the inside of the right foot behind the left foot.
  6. Turn to the left.
  7. Cut the ball with the right foot which counts as the first count of the next shuffle.
  8. On the fourth count, kick the ball with the inside of the left foot behind the right foot.
  9. Turn to the right.
  10. Cut the ball with the left foot which counts as the first count of the next shuffle.
  11. On the third count, kick the ball with the inside of the left foot behind the right foot.
  12. Turn to the right.
  13. Cut the ball with the left foot which counts as the first count of the next shuffle.
  14. Continue steps 1-13.

Things to watch out for:

  1. Try to stay on an imaginary line without moving forward or backward too much.
  2. The third/fourth shuffle (the kick) should be a little harder as it should pass the foot to turn on.
  3. The kick should have the right speed to avoid having to wait for the ball after the turn, or having to overreach for the ball.
  4. Keep the same rhythm at all times.
  5. Focus on technique first, then crank the speed up.
